🏡 September’s Whiff Box: What Does Home Smell Like?

There’s something a little different about September’s Scentsy Whiff Box.

Normally, opening a Whiff Box is all about discovering what Scentsy tucked inside that month.

This time, though?

There’s a story inside the box. 💜

September’s Whiff Box was inspired by the seven members of the Thompson family, Scentsy’s owners and their family, and the fragrances that represent the feeling of coming home to each of them.

Seven people.

Seven different fragrances.

Seven different interpretations of what home smells like.

And after getting my box and sniffing all seven for myself, I LOVE the idea behind this one.

So let’s open it up!

🏡 Box Exclusive: Our Home Mini Warmer

First up is something you can’t just grab from the regular catalog: the Our Home Mini Warmer.

It’s a beautiful white warmer featuring a needlepoint-inspired house design created with tiny openings that allow the light to shine through.

It’s simple, cozy and completely fits the story behind this month’s box.

And because it’s exclusive to the September Whiff Box, that’s already a pretty special little surprise.

But then Scentsy apparently decided one exclusive wasn’t enough…

👃 Let’s Sniff All Seven!

And YES, I actually sniffed them all!

Overall, this was a surprisingly successful box for me. There wasn’t really anything I strongly disliked, although one fragrance definitely landed at the bottom of my pile. 😂

Nigel sniffed them after my recording and naturally we didn’t really agree on everything.

I’m including my YouTube video here so you can sniff along with me…well, figuratively. Technology hasn’t gotten quitethat good yet.

Here’s a quick peek at what we thought:

🍋 Hinoki Lime

Bergamot • Jasmine • Cedarwood

THIS ONE. 💚

Hinoki Lime was my favorite of the seven! It’s fresh and citrusy with that woody hinoki underneath it, and I absolutely loved it.

If I were choosing one from this box based solely on my first sniff, this is my winner – and as you can imagine Nigel wasn’t very fond of it.

🌿 Sunlit Fig

Lemon • Green Fig • Amber

And then we have my seventh-place finisher. 😂

This wasn’t bad, but there’s something very earthy about it and my nose basically said:

“Congratulations. You have found dirt.”

Nigel, on the other hand, called it “interesting.”

I’m not entirely sure whether that’s a compliment, but we’ll give Sunlit Fig the benefit of the doubt. 😂

This is also why fragrance is so personal. Two people can smell the exact same thing and get completely different impressions.

🍑 Midnight Snacks

Peach • Nutmeg • Woods

Warm peach, spice and woods give this one an almost peach-tart kind of vibe.

I enjoyed this one too, and honestly, anything called Midnight Snacks already has a slight advantage with me. 😂

✨ Lingering Light

Bergamot • Amber • Warm Vanilla

This one combines bright bergamot with warm amber and vanilla for something soft and comforting.

Another good one!

🌱 Mossy Reverie

Heliotrope • Moss • Sandalwood

Earthy, green and woody, with sandalwood adding some warmth.

Thankfully, my nose didn’t interpret THIS earthy fragrance as potting soil. 😂

🧥 Leather Atelier

Ginger • Saffron • Leather

Warm, spicy and definitely leathery.

If you’re one of my Weathered Leather people, this is the one I’d be especially curious about.

🍑 Sweet Greetings

Marshmallow • Fresh Peach • Vanilla

And apparently we found Nigel’s winner!

He really liked Sweet Greetings, and I can understand why. It’s creamy, peachy and sweet with marshmallow and vanilla.

The easiest way I can describe the vibe?

Peach dirty soda. 🍑🥤

So Michele picks Hinoki Lime, Nigel picks Sweet Greetings, and Sunlit Fig is sitting over there smelling “interesting” while I accuse it of being dirt. 😂

That’s what I keep coming back to with this box.

Seven people in one family can have seven completely different answers.

Maybe home smells warm and sweet.

Maybe it’s fresh and clean.

Maybe it’s earthy and woody.

Maybe it’s leather.

Maybe apparently it’s peach dirty soda. 😂

That’s the fun of fragrance. Scent and memory are so tangled together that something completely ordinary can instantly remind us of a person, a place or a moment.

And I think that’s what makes this month’s Whiff Box more interesting than simply getting a pile of products worth more than you paid.

There’s a little story behind it.
